Dear bandmates! For those who didn't come for today's practice..
What is a musician?
A musician makes music as an occupation. But we are student-musicians. We are making music. How to make music?
Not by just playing the notes by itself. We must play those notes in beauty.
In time, in tune, in tone.
All these three is very important. When you practice, do use these points and practice. And lastly, in style.
Like what type of style? Like Pilatus-The mountain of Dragons, the starting part. The style is mysterious.. How about adding some serious-ness? It makes a big difference is the style you're gonna play right?
In tone, articulations, crescendo, forte , piano.. All these are the type of "style".
If you perfect all these three- in time, in tune, in tone. You'll make a lot of improvement. So focus on these to practice and during practicing. Then you'll just have to play in the style needed.
Those sec2s, next year, you all are not juniors anymore, neither are the sec1s, you'll be having juniors, you'll have guide them and teach them. They are young, they will learn what you do, no matter bad or good. Be a good example and teach and guide them.
Your darling sec 3s like me, is not gonna be there with you everyday from now, you all have to push yourselfs. Grow up and be strong. Good luck.
OHYA. Smile more in band la :) don't be like Xing Quan, Wayne Senior says it is depressing. HAHAHHAHA :D.

We are a Symphonic Band , which lits the road with light by making MUSIC The band is currently under the baton of our Band Director, Ms Samantha Chong, who appreciate our music and willing to guide us thru any storm ahead of us.
A B O U T

The band was formed in 2001 with a membership of only 40 Sec One students. It has since expanded to a membership of 120.
For the 10th year running, the HS Wind Symphony has been actively involved in many school events as well as Music Exchange programmes with other school bands.
In 2008, the band went for a Music Exchange programme at Burapha University of Bangkok, Thailand and has also participated in Singapore International Band Festival obtaining a Silver award.
In year 2009, the band participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging of Concert Bands Competition and clinched a Gold award. It is the band's third participation in the SYF. It also had music exchange with schools like Regent Secondary School, Shuqun Secondary School and Ang Mo Kio Secondary School which provided opportunities for the band members to learn and play with band members from other schools.
In 2010,the band went to catholic high school (Malaysia) and took part with them in the Singapore International Band Festival, obtaining a Silver award that year The band has also performed in events like Annual School "Art Festia" and "Addiction" concerts. The band also plays the National Anthem every Monday for the school morning assembly. The band was also privileged to perform at 2007’s National Day Observance Ceremony at Hougang Secondary School organised by the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC where the Guest of Honour was Mister Teo Ser Luck, Permanent Secretary of MCYS, Member of Parliament of Pasir-Ris Punggol GRC.
In 2011, the band participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) once again, we obtained a Silver. We believe, we can make a difference.
